Fleet software in the news
JAAMA UNVEILS FURTHER EXPANSION PLANS AND NEW JOBS BLITZ TO MEET CUSTOMER DEMAND
Fleet software and risk management experts Jaama will more than double its workforce in 2007 as the technology-leading company enters its fourth year with expansion into new business sectors.
The company’s success has been built around its innovative web-based vehicle and driver management solutions for contract hire and rental companies as well as car and commercial fleets. Jaama’s significant growth means that later this year the company will move into larger premises.
During the last three years Jaama has also developed a major focus on occupational road risk management and has helped more than 800 employees with fleet responsibility implement solutions after they attended the company’s Risk Management Essentials workshops. More recently Jaama has also been running Fleet Management Essentials workshops.
The company recently launched the final module in its suite of cutting-edge ‘Key2’ branded products. Key2 Financials has joined vehicle management, driver management, contract hire and leasing, daily rental and workshop and stores control in the Key2 Vehicle Management portfolio. The web-based technology for car and commercial vehicle fleets has been developed at a cost of £1 million. The company’s portfolio of online fleet management solutions also includes Fleet Assistant for smaller fleets and the occupational road risk management focussed, Risk Assistant.
Jaama now provides fleet management software solutions to a total of 14 contract hire and rental companies, including a dozen leasing firms operating more than 1,500 vehicles each.
Managing director Jason Francis said: “We have been very successful in providing vehicle management solutions to leasing and rental companies as well as car and commercial fleets.
“Future growth will come from greater penetration into the leasing sector - both large operators and smaller specialist companies. We will also continue to grow our commercial vehicle fleet operators, distribution, logistics, public sector, engineering and construction customer base where we already have enjoyed significant success with some of the largest fleets in the country.”
However, the launch of Key2 Financials has enabled Jaama to now offer a complete range of online business solutions to companies where transport may only be one aspect of their operation.
Mr Francis explained: “Key2 Financials will handle all transactions relating to sales, purchase and nominal ledger control, customer credit limits, invoicing, cash management, automated direct debits, standing orders, BACS management, VAT returns, balance sheet and profit and loss accounting. It’s a very modern system which is fully integrated into the other modules which provides significant automation and information control.
“This module complete the £1 million investment in our suite of online products and means we can provide software solutions for running businesses rather than just one aspect of simply focusing on fleet management, which nevertheless, remains a key marketplace for us.”
Being modular, Jaama’s Key2 product range addresses the needs of car fleet operators looking for simple lease supplier and driver management, commercial fleet operators looking for more complex maintenance, workshop and stores control, and ultimately provides a fully integrated business management solution designed to automate the complexities associated with running vehicle leasing or hire companies.
“When we launched the business three years ago we planned on bringing a mark-leading web-based fleet, contract hire and rental management software solution to the marketplace. However, the functionality delivered by the Key2 product range has become far broader than we anticipated as a result of customers’ requirements becoming increasingly complex. These requirements are driven by an increasing need for companies to control costs and deliver a competitive edge,” said Mr Francis.
Major customers include mobile phone group Phones4U, Newtown Vehicle Rentals, SIG Trading Limited, Smeg and the British Transport Police.
Office expansion and recruitment
Jaama’s ongoing staff recruitment means that the company will move into larger premises later this year.
The company began the year with just over 20 full-time staff and already this year has recruited a further 12 employees. With additional project management, product developers and product trainers now being recruited, Jaama expects to employ more than 40 people by the end of 2007.
That expansion has necessitated a move to new 5-6,000 square feet premises in the Tamworth area.
Mr Francis explained: “Our fast-growing customer base and the desire of clients to have bespoke functionality has resulted in a seemingly continuous staff recruitment drive. In turn, that has meant that we cannot accommodate any more staff at our existing premises so we are looking to move our headquarters in the autumn.”
Jaama’s three most recent recruits are customer support providers Dan Wyatt and Mike Archer and personal assistant Alison Vaux, whose career includes 14 years in the public sector with Tamworth Borough Council.
Dan, who has worked in a variety of sales roles in the automotive sector, is studying for his NCC Education Advanced Certificate in systems analysis, systems design, SSADM and CASE tools with Computeach International Ltd.
Mike, a former Pontins Bluecoat, spent the last two years in the IT department of Europe’s largest integrated gaming company, GalaCoral Group prior to joining Jaama.
