JAAMA HELPS FLEETS REDUCE THEIR CARBON FOOTPRINT WITH NEW VEHICLE CONFIGURATOR INITIATIVEA major step to help companies ‘green’ their fleet operations has been taken by Jaama in introducing a vehicle configurator into its industry-leading Key2 Vehicle Management software.
The software and risk management specialist has harnessed data from CAP Motor Research’s industry-leading New Vehicle Data Solution, which was first made available to contract hire and leasing companies, and built it into its vehicle quotation system through the Policy Manager module.
Not only does the technology help businesses and drivers reduce their transport carbon footprint by pinpointing the most environmentally-friendly vehicles within company car policy guidelines, but it saves significant fleet manager administration time.
Jaama believes that Policy Manager is the UK’s first system to provide a vehicle configurator for individual drivers to select their next vehicle, fully integrated into their company’s fleet policy management and replacement process taking into account driver car grade setting, vehicle choice parameters, vehicle selection, authorisation and order management.
Policy Manager allows the following policies to be defined:
- Risk policy: Low, medium and high risk profiling linked to low, medium and high risk driver policy
- Driver policy: driver car grade - vehicle band, allowances, contributions, trade up/down and car type restrictions i.e. saloon/hatchback, petrol/diesel CO2 emissions range
- Fleet Policy: Vehicle suppliers, maintenance profiles, accident management, vehicle replacement, etc.
Jaama managing director Jason Francis said: “The vehicle configurator for drivers looks at an individual driver’s car grade and allowances/contributions and provides point and click configuration of ‘in-grade’ cars with accessories and options. Vehicle technical data and CO2 emissions data is provided to help a driver with their selection. Currently Jaama is the only company to fully utilise the new CAP New Vehicle Data Solution.”
With around 7,000 car models and almost 3,000 light commercial vehicle models on the UK market, Mr Francis said: “Every fleet policy and every drivers’ requirements are different. Add that into the thousands of vehicles, options and specifications available and to arrive at the ‘right’ vehicle for the job for each driver is, without doubt, a daunting process.
“Combining the CAP model, options and specification data with fleet policy criteria and
built-in authorisation and order processes frees significant fleet manager time, while continuing to ensure they have ultimate control.
“Meanwhile, drivers can ‘mix and match’ models and options to the eighth degree within clearly defined policy parameters without having to resort to either their fleet manager or suppliers for information and quotes.
“As a result hassle for fleet managers is reduced but, crucially, control maintained; while for company car drivers and cash for car employees they have all information at their fingertips to order and specify their ‘perfect’ vehicle.”
