Fleet software in the news
JAAMA SOFTWARE PUTS FLEET OPERATORS ON THE ROAD TO CONTROLLING FUEL COSTS
Fuel is fast challenging vehicle depreciation as the single largest fleet-related cost for companies.
Therefore, it is essential that fleet operators use every tool in their armoury to keep fuel costs under control and eliminate any unnecessary expenditure.
Software specialist jaama’s investment in its web-based Key2 Vehicle Management technology using the latest .NET technology provides fleets with the most advanced fleet management system currently available and can access fuel transactions online from fuel card providers and match driver, vehicle registration number, allocated cost centre and direct incoming costs to the right centre.
Jaama is one of the first companies in its sector in the UK to move to .NET2, Microsoft’s new development framework that has taken the global giant more than four years and billions of dollars to develop.
The technology provides web software companies like Jaama with significantly improved development, implementation and product maintenance features resulting in fleet operator benefits that include applications running faster using less memory and increased bespoke capability
With regard to controlling fuel costs the benefits include:
- The identification of mismatches by exception - i.e. fuel transaction registration does not match the system registration. jaama’s system also recognises if a driver has a temporary hire car and apportions the fuel cost to the correct cost centre retaining the accuracy of the driver’s regular vehicle’s running costs.
- The comparing of actual MPG against expected MPG - vehicle manufacturer’s urban, extra urban and combined MPG figures are automatically imported from CAP Motor Research.
- The identification of fuel fraud – Data imported from CAP highlighting model fuel tank capacity ensures that the purchase of fuel quantities greater than vehicle fuel tank capacity can easily be identified.
- Highlighting if non-approved fuel is bought, for example super unleaded
- The ability to automatically allocate costs and distribute exceptions to drivers, line managers and fleet managers.
- Drivers can log their own mileage returns over the web or on an intranet site and be charged an accurate pence per mile figure based upon the actual cost of fuel for the vehicle. This encourages drivers to choose efficient cars to drive in an efficient manner and fill up at cheaper filling stations.
- Even if generic fuel cards are jaama’s software can report on suppliers used by drivers, for example supermarket or premium brands that give driver points and a higher cost per litre.
jaama managing director Jason Francis added: ‘One of the keys to accurate MPG is ensuring that spurious mileages do not get into a company’s database, at every stage a mileage is recorded within Key2 there are checks to ensure that the figure is valid.’
