Fleet software in the news

NEW JAAMA FLEET SEMINARS TO FOCUS ON AT-WORK DRIVING SAFETY AND SAVING ORGANISATIONS MONEY
Fleet operating cost reductions and at-work driving safety will be the two dominant themes at autumn Fleet Management Essentials seminars being hosted by experts from Jaama.
The seminars, organised by the fleet management software and occupational road safety specialist, have proved extremely popular over the years with a wide cross-section of full-time professional fleet decision-makers as well as administrators and managers who have the responsibility but not necessarily the experience or specialist knowledge of running a fleet of vehicles.
The seminars, prices for which have remained held at the same level for four years, are also applicable for fleet decision-makers who require an update on new legislation, a refresher on best practice and new developments and a crash course in effective cost management and safety issues associated with managing a vehicle fleet.
After attending a Fleet Management Essentials seminar held earlier this year, Henry Crompton, fleet administrator at Reading-based JR Pridham Services Ltd, said: “The seminar was very informative and gave me many ideas which I now plan to implement.”
Sally Daniel, fleet officer, Derbyshire Constabulary, said: “The seminar was very informative; provided a good overview of areas to work on and offered plenty of references for finding our further information.”
And Julie Doyle, transport and security manager at the RSPB, said: “The seminar was excellent in terms of both the presentations and the documentation provided.”
Further one-day Fleet Managements Essentials seminars will be held on: Tuesday, September 29 in Tamworth; Thursday October 1 in Slough; Tuesday October 6 in Leeds/Brighouse; Thursday October 15 in Brentwood and Thursday October 22 in Tamworth.
Issues to be covered in the seminars will include: how to reduce fleet operating costs in a recession without impacting on operating efficiencies; driver management with a key focus being on employees who drive their own cars on business - the so-called grey fleet; employers’ duty of care responsibilities towards their at-work drivers; and forthcoming legislative changes, including the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), which comes into effect on September 10 and impacts on large goods vehicle and passenger carrying vehicle drivers.
Jaama managing director Jason Francis said: “Our entire workshop programme has proved very popular in the almost five years we have been running it, particularly with employees who combine fleet responsibility for cars and commercial vehicles with another role in their organisation as well as those who are new to vehicle management.
“The whole area of fleet management can be daunting, especially if you are new to the role or have ‘acquired’ the day-to-day running of the fleet as part of your responsibilities. In addition, we recognise and appreciate that operators of smaller or employee-owned fleets do not always have the luxury of a full time dedicated fleet manager and often new legislation and best practices can be missed.”
As well as gathering an array of practical information, delegates will take away documents that they can adapt to meet their own individual fleet requirements including fleet policies and driver handbooks and risk management templates and guidance. In addition, delegates (one copy per company) will receive a complimentary copy of ‘Managing Your Company Cars - Expert Opinion’ edited by Professor Colin Tourick. The RRP of the book is £60.
It costs £375 (+ VAT) per delegate to attend a seminar. For further details, current promotions and to book a place contact Jaama on 0844 8484 333.
