PIONEERING FLEET SOFTWARE COMPANY COMPLETES HAT-TRICK OF 2009 AWARD WINS
Leading fleet management software supplier Jaama has completed a hat-trick of industry trophies this year after winning the Technology Award in the 2009 Van Fleet World Honours.
The triumph adds to the company’s success in being named the ‘Best Fleet Services Company’ and ‘Best UK Fleet Software Company’ by the Institute of Transport Management earlier this year.
The annual Van Fleet World Honours were presented yesterday (Wednesday, May 20) at a ceremony at London’s Royal Automobile Club. They are awarded to those van manufacturers and service companies who have, in the opinion of the judging panel composed of industry experts, achieved the highest possible level of excellence in their sector.
The judging panel is chaired by industry professional, George Emmerson, who has managed fleets at IBM, NHBC and Black Horse Agencies. Members of the judging panel include Ken Rogers, John Kendall, and Ross Durkin from Van Fleet World and Fleet World’s editorial team, and fleet manager Jackie Pomfrett.
Since launching almost five years ago, Jaama has won a wide range of major fleet customers all looking to utilise its sophisticated web-based technology to ensure optimum fleet efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with best practice legislation.
New functionality is continually being added by the company to its industry-leading Key2 Vehicle Management software and Fleet Assistant and Risk Assistant systems.
Most recently new Key2 modules include Electronic Driver Services (EDS), which was specifically entered into this year’s Van Fleet World Honours. It was developed in response to overwhelming feedback from customers who wanted an interactive and automated way to share fleet and vehicle information; enforce compliance; risk profile drivers; submit, authorise and manage expense claims and provide an auditable duty of care compliance trail at the touch of a button.
EDS risk profiles drivers based upon risk assessment criteria - whether they drive a company vehicle or their own car on business - and ensures that data on them and their vehicle is collected to provide their employer with an audit trail, which is essential for at-work driving duty of care compliance.
Van Fleet World editor John Kendall said: “Managing a diverse fleet of company vehicles presents many problems for those with overall responsibility, not the least of which is the need for a comprehensive driver and vehicle database which can provide an audit trail to demonstrate that all necessary actions have been undertaken correctly, and within the required time frame.
“Jaama’s new EDS module is both innovative and time saving, providing fleets with an interactive and automated way to store and share fleet and vehicle information. The system can be set up to cover every conceivable piece of driver information that a fleet manager requires and new features can be added as legislation requires.”
Mr Emmerson added: “EDS can be easily integrated into wider company systems to ensure total control over drivers, without duplication of effort. From a fleet management perspective, it is essential that all drivers comply with necessary risk management procedures, and this is also very important for their own safety as well.
“A fully integrated system such as this which risk-profiles drivers and provides an audit trail, which is essential for at-work driving duty of care compliance, is of great value in the fleet industry. The joined-up thinking behind the system clearly demonstrates Jaama’s deep understanding of the fleet industry and how it works.”
