NEW JAAMA DEFECT MANAGER MODULE KEEPS CV FLEETS SAFE
Award-winning fleet software company Jaama has introduced a commercial vehicle defect logging reporting tool to its Key2 Vehicle Management software system.
The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) recommends that commercial vehicle operators have a defect reporting system in place.
Although Key2 Defect Manager is a new web portal within Jaama’s fleet management system, it can be accessed remotely via a personal digital assistant (PDA).
The technology provides transport and depot managers with an online tick box check list so they can complete a walk-round appraisal of all vehicles as frequently as they wish.
While many commercial vehicle operators are likely to record ‘nil’ defects, any work that is required can be easily recorded and then arrangements made for the vehicle to be booked into a workshop.
One of the first Jaama’s customers to go live with Defect Manager will be SIG, the Sheffield-based international supplier to the construction and building markets.
The technology has been developed in conjunction with a number of customers including international courier and logistics company DHL and SIG Plc, which is a long-time client and a partner in developing and testing new functionality.
Jaama managing director Jason Francis said: “Defect Manager has been developed at the request of customers. With a massive corporate focus on occupational road risk management, many companies believe that it is essential that they have a thorough vehicle audit trail in place.
“Defect Manager covers every imaginable part of a vehicle including fluid levels, lighting, brakes, tyres and bodywork to ensure that managers have the very latest information on the condition of every single vehicle on their fleet.
“Where defects are recorded a maintenance record will be created and reminders will be issued until the work is completed.
“We have spent more than £5million developing Key2 Vehicle Management and new modules that we are adding use the latest technology to make fleet administration easier for fleet managers and ensuring maximum legislative compliance. It can be very easy for a busy transport manager to allow what could be a routine maintenance issue to slip through the net.”
