JAAMA’S FLEET MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE KEEPS AK WORTHINGTON ON THE ROAD
One of the UK’s leading independent distribution, warehousing and contract packaging companies has slashed fleet administration time by a day a week and improved report compilation with the implementation of Jaama’s sophisticated online management technology.
Manchester-based AK Worthington Ltd operates a115-strong fleet composed of about 100 trucks, as well as company cars, light commercial vehicles and forklifts.
A marketplace review of a range of fleet management software solutions led to the company to select Jaama’s Key2 Vehicle Management system as the ‘most comprehensive and easiest to use’, according to AK Worthington fleet manager Tyrone Lanaway.
The technology, which has replaced an array of spread sheets previously used to record fleet management data, is estimated to save Mr Lanaway eight hours a week - 52 working days a year - in administration time.
Mr Lanaway left AK Worthington but returned to the company two years ago. He explained: “While I was away I used a fleet management software system and could see the benefits in terms of cutting administration time and improved levels of management reporting.
“It was clear that at AK Worthington we had to update our old-fashioned spread sheet process and move into the 21st century. We have done that with Key2.”
Jaama’s Key2 Vehicle Management system is now at the heart of managing AK Worthington’s fleet and is also accessed by staff employed in the company’s accounts and warehousing departments.
In addition to managing the company’s vehicle assets, Key2 modules are used to manage vehicle maintenance, spot rental, drivers, fuel, accidents and financials.
Mr Lanaway said: “Jaama’s system was very flexible and we have been able to personalise aspects of it. However, the most signficant benefits have been in terms of giving me instant access to a wide range of fleet data instead of taking ages to hunt around spread sheets for the information.
“Additionally, the ability to quickly and easily produce management reports on any particular aspect of the fleet and compare data agaiunst key performance indicators has reduced administration time significantly.
“I estimate that I’m saving about eight hours a week in terms of fleet administration time while also delivering improved levels of reporting.
“The technology has done away with paper and bought clarity to both fleet management administration and pro-active strategic forward-thinking.”
He added: “The ability of staff in other departments to access the system is also crucial, particularly accounts and payroll, so they can gather data that they require without reference to me.”
Jaama managing director Jason Francis said: “AK Worthington has embraced an online fleet management solution to reap numerous benefits that are already proving to be extremely time and cost effective.
“Not only is Key2 assisting with delivering best practice fleet management in a multitude of areas. But AK Worthington is another client that has grasped the importance of choosing a software solution that can be fully accessed by other departments.”
