Jaama managing director Jason Francis says that summer holidays are a time for hard-pressed company employees to enjoy themselves with their families away from the office. 'However, that enjoyment can be destroyed by a momentary lapse of concentration or a failure to recognise the laws of other countries,' he says. At this time of year responsible companies should make their employees aware of the importance of checking the motoring laws of countries in which they will be driving. Additionally, employers should ensure that employees have valid insurance for travelling abroad and appropriate breakdown cover.'

Ideally, he says, companies should have a ready-prepared driver pack customised to meet their own corporate requirements. This should include: driver policy, road-related health and safety advice, insurance certificate, a GB sticker, road map and, best practice would dictate a country-by-country guide to key driving requirements and rules.
