Fleet software in the news
Support is the key when choosing software providers
Software can work wonders when you know how to use it, but that makes training vital and support essential, in case you need further help.

Claire Walker is the perfect advert for the efficiencies modern fleet management software brings if it is sourced effectively.
Working as a compensations and benefits manager for 20:20 she has to manage a fleet of more than 1,300 vehicles and 300 cash-takers.
Relying on a basic 'ancient' form of software and no less than 30 spreadsheets, it's not hard to understand how things were slowly grinding to a halt. Especially when Walker's other role is to manage the payroll for the busy telecommunications company whose subsidiaries include the mobile phone retailer Phones 4 U.
She said: "In the past the employer had to register a new employee on with HR, than manually re-input on payroll, then update on the fleet database. You can imagine the time delay." The decision was taken to tender for a fleet software provider, with a process that focused on automating and cutting out repetition in the HR systems.
An analysis of available fleet management systems was conducted. Jaama's Key2 Vehicle Management system was introduced as it 'married' up to the firm's existing HR platform, enabled devolved management to subsidiary companies to occur so important to choose technology that can integrate with systems operated by company department ending the company wide 'paper chase' and would enable drivers and suppliers to input vital information online.
The technology now provides the heartbeat for the management of the company car fleet. Ms Walker said: "We are saving hours and hours in administration time every month as well as thousands of pounds in overall costs and have cut invoice queries from 150a month to zero. "It was a nightmare inputting fleet data and also updating staff changes that had originated in HR.
"Our move to web-based software has reduced an almost impossible workload and all departments, including fleet, HR and payroll, as well as the fleet administrators in our subsidiary companies are benefiting.
"The technology is also enabling us to capture more information on our fleet so we can be far more proactive and analytical in our management. It is improving operating efficiencies and ultimately reducing costs still further."
Jaama managing director Jason Francis said: "This is an excellent example of a company that understands the importance of choosing fleet technology that can fully integrate with systems operated by external suppliers and other company departments, such as HR, payroll and finance, and can also be accessed by drivers."
