The Programme | Contract Hire Partners
Why the need
Over the past few years risk management has been clearly placed at the top of the corporate agenda with the introduction of:
. Provision and use of work equipment regulations 1998
. Transport act 2000
. Work Related Road Safety Task Group WRRSTG
. The management of health & safety at work 1999
. Health & safety executive occupational road safety guidelines 2003
. Working time directive amendment March 2005
. Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007
. Road Safety Act 2006
Richard Dykes - Chairman of the WRRSTG
"Employers should do more to assess and take proportionate action to reduce risks and, where they fail; appropriate action should be taken against them. We want to change the situation so that those driving on business have the same health and safety protection as those working in fixed premises."
In conjunction the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) produced a new document to help achieve this called the Road Death Investigation Manual. In the event of a fatal or serious injury accident, the manual acts as a guide to police officers who are now investigating all road deaths as if they are unlawful killings.
